OK today is the second day of working with new lappy, going through the long boring process of copying over documents, music, software etc.
I’ve got over 17GB of music to copy over, wow that’s going to take a long time. The 17GB of hard rockin tunes is one of the reasons I went for a 500GB hard drive.
This laptop is more of a desktop replacement, more than a laptop to carry around. If I wanted one like that I wouldn’t have gone for a 17” screen.
After much looking around I finally went for a Dell Inspiron 17R, in black. It has a nice bright screen, the 4GB ram and the 500GB hard drive.
Once I copied over all these docs and music I’m going to start installing the software I need, here’s my list of software to be installed:
- Flash Builder 4 (as a Flex developer goes without saying)
- Google Chrome, the best browser
- Windows Live Writer for blogging
- TweetDeck
- FeedDemon for RSS
- Skype
- Songbird, for tunes I can’t stand iTunes anymore
- Eclipse for Android development (my new venture)
- Notepad++
