I spent ages deciding whether to get a iPhone or a Android phone, while I was waiting for my old phone contract to end. Finally the misery ended and I ordered my Google Nexus One.
It’s been a month or so now since I got my Nexus, and I’m so glad I went for the Nexus over the iPhone.
I know there’s not as many apps as the iPhone, but I don’t need access to over 200,000 apps, just a small number of apps. The Android market is growing day by day.
I like the UI, the speed of the phone (though I am looking forward to the Froyo update, which looks blindingly fast), the way is syncs with my Google account Also as a Flex developer I’m really excited on how Adobe are embracing the Android platform and how I can develop AIR apps for the Nexus.
The only problem with the phone is the battery life, which isn’t brilliant. I have to charge the phone nearly every other day. But if I turn Wi-Fi and 3g off the battery lasts longer.
Anyway here’s a list of some of the apps I have installed:
- Barscanner – great for installing new apps
- Twitter – the official one
- Handcent – for SMS, nice options for the UI
- Dialler One – good app for making calls quicker
- Blogger-droid – an app for posting to your blogger account
- Doit.im – a GTD task manager app, which has a AIR desktop
- Yelp
- GDocs
- AppBrainMarket – another app market place
- Evernote
- Papertoss – great game
That’s all at the moment.
